Building on content presented within Mel O’Callaghan’s (Australia) work titled Centre of the Centre, MCAD conducted Verde Island Adventure in Recycled Art, a talk and workshop last 27 September. Joal Ascalon and Zach Garcia of the SEA (Science, Education and Advocacy) Institute enlightened students, creatives and young professionals on the unique food web of the Verde Island Passage, which is said to be the world’s ‘center of the center’ for marine shore-fish biodiversity and is located in Southwestern Philippines. In addition, participants were challenged with a hands-on workshop on coral art assemblage using recycled materials.
