Storytelling Using Video

PRESS RELEASE

10 July 2020, 1-5pm
Online Event | Kids (8-13 years old)

Got a story to share in video? Then let MCAD’s online video workshop for kids show you how to narrate that adventure in your head using moving images! Happening on July 10, from 1-5 pm, the workshop will teach techniques for shooting, viewing and developing images, and will be facilitated by Neo Maestro of community-based initiative Lost Frames, which has pioneered showcasing artists’ moving images in the Philippines.

The workshop begins with an introduction to the video medium through references from traditional forms of art to mainstream movies. A selection of video works curated by Lost Frames will also be shown to inspire participants for their final activity of shooting their own mini video project using a smart phone or any digital camera that’s available to them.

The museum requires kids to have access to a smartphone or a digital camera for easy application of class learnings.

About Lost Frames

Lost Frames is a screening event that features video and film from artists whose works occupy the margins or interstices across the vast field of moving images. From its origins inside a small screening room in Cubao, Lost Frames has gathered more than 50 filmmakers, animators, designers, and visual artists through regular screenings held since 2015. Each screening event includes talks by artists and a discussion with the viewers and other participants. This format of presenting and discussing works is deemed necessary and highlights dialogue as a vital part of the viewing experience, which is geared towards developing a community where anyone can participate and put forward artistic, practical, or social concerns. From its initial attempts to future regular screenings, Lost Frames aims to adhere to this simple format, which is discovery through viewing, and understanding through discussions.
