As a prelude to the opening of his solo travelling exhibition The Serenity of Madness, Apichatpong Weerasethakul will hold a public talk on 17 February, 4 pm at the SDA Theatre. The focus of his talk will be his approach to filmmaking, and the work of memory, personal politics and social issues.
The talk is free and open to the public. For students of Benilde, this talk is CSBLIFE Accredited.
Weerasethakul is a critically acclaimed independent filmmaker and artist based in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Under his belt are showcases in both international and solo exhibitions, participations in film festivals, and awards such as the Silpathorn award from the Thai Ministry of Culture, two medals from the French Ministry of Culture and Communications under the Order of Arts and Letters, and two awards from the Cannes Film Festival. His studio, Kick the Machine Films, has produced projects from other filmmakers and has co-supported local film festivals.
