Encouraging Learning in the Cross Section of Society

The Museum’s wide-reaching Learning Program takes hold of a range of discursive positions, not only on contemporary art and design but also culture, politics, family and society. Running throughout the year either independently or in-support of our exhibition program, the museum’s free program of educational events and activities aim to engage with the entire cross section of society irrespective of art knowledge, age or race.

Our public programs include talks, roundtables, in-conversations, performances, readings, screenings, workshops, family events, public lectures, educational, teachers’ and kids’ activity packs. Each is tailored to a specific demographic and serves as a vital part of MCAD’s outreach and engagement.

Demographics

As such, its public programs are categorized into Early Years, composed of events and activities designed for 7-11 year olds and their families; Secondary Education, with engagements designed for 12-16 year olds and High School teachers; Young Creatives, which offers events for Late Teens, University Students and Young Professionals; and Community, which focuses on engaging local geographical areas, and widening participation and outreach in the Philippines.

Programs

Events and activities are sub-categorized into Platforms, which is programmed throughout the year, regardless the content presented by a particular exhibition; Exhibitions, which is composed of workshops, tours, materials and activities that support, question and challenge thematics presented within the current Museum exhibition; and Education which overlaps both areas but focuses on core ‘learning and teaching’ materials and academia.
