Over 450 artists, art professionals, academics and guests joined us for the opening of ‘Constructions of Truths’ on the evening of the 6th of February 2020.
Comprised of 9 installations within the Museum, the 11 artists seek to question the nature of aesthetics, narrative spaces and force us to ask, if we ourselves can distinguish realities from constructed ones. Presented using the projected image as a metaphor for how images are projected onto us, the echo or ghost of the artists intrusions are present in each artwork.
The program was presided by MCAD’s Deputy Director, Chris Green who spoke on behalf of Director and Curator, Joselina Cruz who is currently partaking in a Curatorial Residency with the Asian Cultural Council in New York. Br. Dodo Fernandez, President of the De La Salle-College of St. Benilde, welcomed guests and Director of Han Nefkens Foundation and exhibition partner, Hilde Teerlinck, gave an overview of the Foundations mission and vision globally.
